Dear Participants,

I would like to welcome you to the 1st International Conference "Romanian Cryptology Days, RCD-2011", organized by the Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service as a cryptology authority.

The topic of the Conference is "Cryptology – from Academic Research to Government Necessity" and answers the increased needs of securing information within both government and private structures.

In the present international context, in which the technological developments increase the vulnerabilities and risks to the information society, the cryptographic support, achieved through modern mathematical techniques, represents the key in ensuring information security in the activity of any intelligence service.

Drawing on the European model of relevant government structures getting involved in creating a cryptology culture in partnership with the academic circles, the Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service organizes this event as a platform of dialogue among the circles interested in the field of cryptology.

By inviting recognized specialists from government agencies, special services, private companies and academic community, the Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service seeks to establish strategic partnerships in order to provide the Romanian specialists with the best training in cutting-edge cryptology fields.

I wish to thank in advance our special guests, as well as all our other valued guests for their personal contribution brought to the conference by their presentations. I am confident that all participants will conclude on the positive role of this scientific event and will consider their presence in the future editions as useful.

Professor Mihai-Răzvan Ungureanu, PhD,
Director of the Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service
